Foods of St. Louis

Published by pattye under Other Edit This

Yesterday, I discussed foods that were made famous at the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair.  I I guess St. Louis was a happening place back then.  It’s sad that we have lost some of our luster.  It’s a nice place, but it just doesn’t have the appeal that other cities offer.  Don’t get me wrong, we have a lot to do it here, but it doesn’t seem the vacation destination of many people.  We have the Arch, Forest Park, Anheuser Busch, Grant’s Farm, Six Flags and a several other things, so it really does make for a nice vacation but I don’t think people think of coming here.  We have the river front, but we need an ocean.  LOL

I would imagine that each region of the country has foods that they are known for.  We have pork steaks.  It’s not a barbecue in St. Louis if you do not barbecue pork steaks.  We also invented the gooey butter cake.  It is so good!  Pizza, sure we have St. Louis style pizza.  It’s a thin crust.  Imo’s Pizza has a very thin crust with provel cheese.  If you have left the St. Louis area and are craving a pizza from Imo’s, you can order it and they will ship it to you. If you like custard, then you need to check out Ted Drews.  He is famous here.  We also have our wonderful toasted ravioli.

Oh, we are also known for TUMS® antacid LOL   That is not a food and you may not need them after eating our food, but they are made here.

What foods are famous in your area?
