Valentine’s Day

Published by pattye under Other Edit This

Do you fix anything special for Valentine’s Day?

It’s on a Saturday this year, so we may go out for dinner.  I mentioned it to Hubby and he grunted, so I guess that means yes.  I told him he was getting off easy and he agreed.  He is very inconsistent with his celebrations.  He will bring me candy or flowers or a card one year and then for the next two years… nothing.   My birthday is the following week and the same thing happens.  I normally have to buy my own birthday cake and gift.  Dr. Phil says that you teach people how to treat you and I guess I have.

So, back to the subject of this post which is Valentine’s Day foods.  One year, I made a heart shaped pizza.  I saw it on Food Network.  I was all excited about it.  You have to know Hubby, he doesn’t say much.  I think he said something like “that looks like a lot of work for a pizza.”  It was not the reaction I had hoped for. I have made heart shaped cakes, of course. Those are easy and usually get a pretty good response.   One year, I made chocolate covered strawberries.  They were okay, but still didn’t get a great response.  Hubby doesn’t get excited over much as you may have noticed by now.  I think that has been the extent of my special items for Valentine’s Day.

If you do not have a sweetie for Valentine’s Day and you want to celebrate, do something for yourself.  I have a sweetie and I still do things for myself.  I have found that if I don’t do anything, then I am the one that is unhappy.  Hubby could care less.  So, if you want to feel special, make something for yourself or buy yourself something special.  You deserve it, don’t you?
