Freezing Meals

Published by pattye under Other Edit This

Do you make meals ahead of time and freeze them?  The only thing that I have really tried is chili.  I’m thinking that I really should try other things though.  I’m just scared of freezer burn.

Last night, I made a double batch of lasagna.  One batch for us and one for my in-laws.  I noticed on the lasagna noodles box that there are instructions on how to freeze it.  It got me thinking that the next time I make lasagna, I should make extra and freeze it.  I have always been nervous about doing that though.

If you freeze your meals, what advice do you have?  What type of containers do you use?  I’m thinking plastic freezer containers.  Should I also put the bowl in a freezer bag?

What type of things do you freeze?  I know that soup is popular.  We are not really soup fans, but we like chili.  Do you freeze anything besides soups and chili?

I was a little nervous about taking the lasagna to my in-laws because I really didn’t know how long to tell them to heat it from a refrigerated state. The noodle box came to my rescue.  It had those directions on it and I just cut the instructions out and put it on the top on the lasagna container.   That should make it very easy for my father-in-law.
