Caramel Sticky Buns - With A Hubby Rating

Published by pattye under Breakfast Edit This

Each week in 2009, I plan to try out a new recipe.  I will post the recipe and my review as well as my husband’s review.

I enjoy fixing a nice breakfast for us on the weekends.  I have gotten in quite the rut with fixing my breakfast burritos.  Recently, I started making pancakes, but I’m already getting tired of them.

This is the new recipe that I tried for this week:

Recipe is from Pillsbury, The Complete Book of Baking

Caramel Sticky Buns

Topping

1/4 cup margarine or butter, melted

1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

2  tablespoons light corn syrup

1/2 cup chopped pecans

Coating

1 tablespoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Buns

1 (10 oz.) can refrigerated flaky biscuits

Heat oven to 375 degrees F.  Grease 12 muffin cups.  In small bowl, combine all topping ingredients; mix well.  Spoon scant tablespoon topping into each greased muffin cup.

In medium bowl, combine coating ingredients; mix well.  Separate dough into 10 biscuits.  Cut each biscuit into 6 pieces.  Toss pieces in coating mixture.  Place 5 coated pieces of dough in each greased muffin cup.  Place pan on cookie sheet to guard against spills.

Caramel Sticky Buns - before baking

Bake at 375 degree F for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Caramel Sticky Buns - after baking

Cook in pan 1 minute; invert onto waxed paper.  Serve warm.

Patty’s Review (mine)

This was a pretty easy recipe to make.  I thought the clean up might be difficult, but the sticky buns fell out without a problem.  There wasn’t any sticky residue left in the pan.  My pan is pretty new, so that may have helped.  I thought these were better than the refrigerated version that I buy and then add nuts to the top.  I will definitely make this recipe again.

Jeff’s Rating (the hubby)

SmileSmileSmileSmile  4 out of 5

Jeff did not have any real reason for not giving it a 5.  He said it just wasn’t a 5 to him.  He liked it and would like to have them again, but it’s not a 5.  He’s a man of few words.  LOL

ENJOY!
